The ASC was invited to facilitate a workshop focused on Going Glocal at the 3rd Global Peace Workshop co-hosted by the Mügla Sitki Koçman Universitiesi and the Centre for Trust, Peace and Social Relations at Coventry University.
Serbian ACTION member Tatjana Popovic and Richard Smith co-facilitated a 4 day process aimed at building a deeper understanding of the systems working at global and local levels that affect and challenge local level peacebuilding efforts. The learning process explored the differences between mobilisation and building longer forms of durable organisation.
The workshop also explored examples of how dialogue processes can be used to engage across asymmetrical power relations, drawing on examples from Serbia, South Africa and the work of the ACTION network.
Richard was also honoured with the opportunity to deliver the key-note address, Organised Social Formations & Catalysts for Peace, Conflict systems, transformation and a global culture of people-to-people solidarity.
