Internship Opportunity

Are you interested in an opportunity to learn on the job while making a difference to the world around you?

The ACTION Support Centre is now open for applications for the position of Intern. ACTION is a global network of conflict transformation practitioners, with the Support Centre serving as the regional base for ACTION in Africa.

Prospective candidates should have completed a degree/diploma in Peace Studies, Conflict Studies, International Relations, Development Studies, or a closely related field, or have the equivalent experience. Your proven skills in contributing to organization building, writing at both an academic level and more informally for blogs and webpages, research, running campaigns and training will work to your advantage.

Proficiency in English is a must! French and/or Portuguese will give you an edge.

Applicants should be committed to working 3½ days a week and some weekends when required.

This is a volunteer position, though ACTION will pay a nominal honorarium to cover transport costs and basic subsistence.

How to Participate


You can participate in ASC programmes by:

  1. Writing articles/poems/stories/sharing case studies for the Peace and Development Platform Drums for Change newsletter, Solidarity and Transformation Agenda e-newsletter and ASC peacebuilding practitioners’ news blog.
  2. Requesting subscriptions to the above newsletters.
  3. Participating in ASC activities that are relevant to you.

INTERNSHIPS

ACTION Support Centre provides a platform for work place growth and taps into fresh ideas and energies young people have through a comprehensive internship package. ASC recruits interns that are interested in , Conflict Transformation, peacebuilding, people to people solidarity, human rights, advocacy and lobbying, research and participatory democracy, are willing to do some field work and interact with people and grassroots level.

In addition to this, ASC hosts interns from the International Human Right Exchange (IHRE) and most of these interns are students from universities in South Africa the SADC region and International Universities.
