The first Steering Committee meeting of 2015 was held on the 5th March 2015, and included the new members elected at the General Members Meeting in October, 2014. A quorum of members, including Fatima Swartz, Mxolisi Len Khalane, Baht Latumbo, Jabu Dhladhla, Richard Smith, Halima Shuria and Jacinta Jorge participated in the meeting, with apologies received from Sophie Mayisela and members Richard Ndi Tanto and Steve Mulumba who were absent.
During the course of the discussions Jessica Lawson was co-opted onto the Committee and will serve as a full member pending the approval of the General Members. Jessica will paly a key role helping to support the Operations team in the ASC on matters related to Policies, Procedures, salary schedules, contracting and legal compliance as a registered Non Profit Organisation.
It was an excellent opportunity to take stock of the current state of the ACTION Support Centre and look ahead to what promises to be an exciting year of reflection and planning. A large part of the agenda was taken up by discussions focusing on the intention to do a full evaluation and outcomes harvesting of the work of the ASC over the past 5 years, and to feed this into a strategic planning process for 2016-2021.
